Scout Niblett

Scout Niblett will be in Montreal tomorrow night. Rejoice! Molly Sweeney opens and the whole thing will be at Casa del Popolo, peoples. I predict red wine and tall red boots in my near future (AG).

We’re also looking forward to the Beach House show on Monday March 29, the Desert Owls CD launch this Friday and the Boats/Reversing Falls Passovah show tonight! Hope everyone in MTL had a lovely time soaking up the sweet sounds of Joanna Newsom. xo

Thanks to everyone who came out to the show in Montreal last night! We had a lovely time and then got silly at Copa. At the Break of Don and Modernboys Moderngirls were excellent! Thanks also to CKUT, the keen Divan Orange staff (espesh’ Sebastien the sound person) and Passovah! Here’s hoping that Miles and Nat both got home OK last night- y’all are the best!

If anyone is hurting this morning or would like to detox a bit, may we suggest brewing some of Jae Steele’s Tumeric Ginger Tea (from Get It Ripe) or try this version– just add a few twists of black pepper for good measure!

Photos below: drinking with the enemies, post show, at Copa where Erin and Amber have been watering since they were 17.

Good morning! Three more sleeps until we hit the road, jack! We return to Montreal next Thursday in time to play this show, so mark it in your calendars, OK? The Facebook event is here and listen to CKUT (90.3FM) to catch the radio ad voiced by one Jordan Arsenault.

I love the photos set in Australia over on Tessa’s blog these days…so beautiful! She looks like a modern-day Aussie version of Lizzie Bennet.

We may pull together some kind of Pop Montreal must-see list for you by tomorrow (do check out the Passovah showcases), but in the meantime let’s just worry about what you should be doing tonight! Sherwin Tjia (a.k.a. Sully) is a dear friend of Nightwood’s, and quite a talented one at that. In addition to his paintings and Lickety Split smut zine cover art and Slowdance Nights and Strip Spellling Bees, he’s managed to finish his graphic novel, The Hipless Boy. Come drink free wine tonight at his book launch at Drawn & Quarterly (211 Bernard O.). It all starts around 7pm. Once again, free wine. Oh, and there’ll be some readings and stuff too!
"Front cover. A lovely matte finish. SO orange. Oh, and Sully is me! That's my comics nickname. I like having a nickname because it's like how they have nicknames in the mob. Also, Sully is my dead cat, who I still miss." - Sully/Sherwin

Look, you should be getting out more. Winter is over! Tonight Passovah is doing a nutty but FREE show over at Sala Rossa featuring six bands that y’all should check out. Who’s on the bill…ok, ok: Little Scream, Cotton Mouth, Nut Brown, Archivist, James Irwin and friends and Superfossilpower (Tyler Rauman). Check out the Facebook event, my friend.

Y’all should also check out ye olde n’ awesome Anarchist Bookfair here in Montreal, happening this weekend! Near metro Lionel-Groulx.

Clues! Alden’s new-ish band! They sound like serious fun and are playing with Elfin Saddle this Saturday> double CD release…not to be missed, I believe. Facebook, as always.

Spring + spring cleaning anyone? BBQing? Springing back into life? Let’s all chill on terrasses here in MTL (on the warm spring days) and sip gimlets.
